The news in the last week seems to be all iPhone. I don’t have one and I’ve no plans to get one at this time for a variety of reasons. I only know 3 people with the iPhone. One is a rabid Mac fanboy who wouldn’t ever complain about the iPhone or anything else Apple does. One thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread. The other routinely has to stop himself from smashing his iPhone against a wall.
So what do you think about the new iPhone, or do you even care?

  1. I’m a Windows guy…but I love my iphone. Now nothing’s perfect but this phone beats the pants off all the other phones that I’ve tried over the years. The key is Usability…

  2. No, but I wouldn’t mind an iPod touch…

  3. Don’t really care, never cared about the first gen Icrap phone. Macs are fine for desktop/laptop, but i dont need apples propriatary crap such as the ipod/ipod that thinks is a phone

  4. The new iPhone came out this week?? I’ve been way too busy reading everything I can about the new Eee PC models that came out last week. I want to get a 901, though if the price runs over $600 when it comes overseas, I might be looking to get the 900 or a 701.

  5. The iPhone is annoying to me because of the price. You can get a laptop for the same price. (new $199 version excluded of course.) I will never purchase one or any Apple product for that matter.

On another note… I feel it’s just one of the “trendy” things right now that all the yuppies want.

  6. Long time reader – first comment:

New iPhone is good for the industry. Yes, Apple often focuses too rigidly to their design “ethos”, but right now they are the only American company pushing the boundaries in this tech market. If we lived in Europe it may not matter so much where devices and service are light years ahead of what we unhappily tolerate here Stateside.

That said, I will not be giving up my Crackberry for an iPhone. Just looking forward to RIM advancing their line and continuing to do a better overall job than Apple.

  7. If they were wayyyyyyyyy cheaper I MIGHT CONSIDER buying one. But, with that price tag, just not worth it. I might get an ipod touch though.

  8. I love my iTouch. What’s not to love? It was a struggle, but I finally jumped in to upgrade the 3G Ipod classic with click-wheel.

Pros: I have 10 DVDs ripped, I mean, backed up for viewing. I can surf the web with an amazing web interface that blows anything else this small I’ve tried out of the water (requires hotspot). I can play songs that utilize iTunes and SmartPlaylists, something that I’ve invested dozens of hours working on like mini radio stations. I can get weather, email, stocks, blah blah blah.

Cons. I don’t have the iPhone ,but that’s a plus since I’m not saddled with the forced bundled sucky ATT/Cingular service. The display of songs requires you’re in Album Flow view, meaning that the actual song/artist/album are in 5 pt. font, with 2 of 3 of those gray on black… impossible to see while driving. I miss my old 3G for seeing what song is playing.

    Still, a great killer device.

  9. first time pos(t)er… reader long time…

if it was offered with other carriers and a tad less expensive for the tykes to use maybe so… but alas, homey just don’t do apple-y-squat…

  10. all i need from a phone is a button to answer calls and some letters to send an sms, thats it.

i do the rest of my work on a pc and its better at it.
