Process Monitor “is an advanced monitoring tool for Windows that shows real-time file system, Registry and process/thread activity.”
Version 1.24 “Fixes a bug in the new Registry hooking feature.”
BgInfo “automatically displays relevant information about a Windows computer on the desktop’s background, such as the computer name, IP address, service pack version, and more.”

- Installer now works on 64-bit OS Recycle Bins menus.
- Optimized IE Temp files cleaning speed.
- Improved index.dat cleaning on XP.
- Fixed Registry Cleaner as “Fix All” sometimes wouldn’t work.
- Keyboard shortcuts now work correctly in Registry section.
- Files winsys.ini and winreg.ini are now embedded in the EXE.
- Fixed bug where Autoupdate check could cause an exception.
- Fixed minor bug in restoring screen position and size.
- Lots of internal improvements to reliability and speed.

This weeks program is a little change of pace. Not a Windows tool per se, but a Cool Tool none-the-less.
MP3/TAG Studio is absolutely the most powerful mp3 tag utility I’ve used.

A silent update that Microsoft deployed widely in July and August is preventing the “repair” feature of Windows XP from completing successfully.
Ever since the Redmond company’s recent download of new support files for Windows Update, users of XP’s repair function have been unable to install the latest 80 patches from Microsoft.

Amazon’s mp3 store is up and running. ARS Technica has a quick look at what you can expect.
Amazon’s 256kbps tracks are $0.89 or $0.99 each, which compares quite well with Wal-Mart’s $0.94 per track price for music at the same bit rate. iTunes continues to sell 256kbps AAC files without DRM for $1.29, but this is only available with EMI tracks at the moment.
