How To Install And Configure Norton SystemWorks Pro 2003

Page 2

After Installation

After your first reboot the VERY FIRST thing you need to do is run Live Update. You should run it 3 times, rebooting after the first and second time. The third attempt should reveal "no new updates."

Now lets configure this puppy! Double-click on the Norton SystemWorks icon on the desktop. On the screen that pops up (we'll call this the "main screen" from now on), click on the Options button and choose Norton SystemWorks.

Click through the tabs making each screen look like mine.

***Warning, this removes automatic protection and requires you to use some common sense. Don't be clicking on files you've downloaded until you do the following:

To scan files, right click on the file(s) and choose "Scan with Norton AnitVirus"

Now to continue on...

In this screen, click on the Advanced Options button.

Make your screen look like this then click OK to go back to the main screen.

Back at the main screen. click the Options button again and choose Norton Utilities. Click through the tabs making each screen look like mine.

Click OK to go back to the main screen. Click on Options again and choose Norton AntiVirus. On the left of the screen click on Auto-Protect. Make your screen look like mine. (Under the "How to stay protected section", start at "Show the Auto-Protect icon in the tray" and uncheck each box, working your way UP.)

Now click on Email in the left pane and uncheck "Scan outgoing Email".

Now click on LiveUpdate in the left pane and uncheck "Enable automatic LiveUpdate".

PLEASE remember to run LiveUpdate manually at least once a week!

Click OK to go back to the main screen.

Back at the main screen click Options again and choose Norton Ghost. Make your screen look like mine. Click OK and once back at the main screen close it out.

Now reboot and you should be set!
