How To Use The Backup Utility In Windows XP (NTbackup.exe)

Page 3, Restoring from a backup.

Open NTbackup. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > system Tools > Backup.

or

Press the Windows + R keys > type ntbackup and hit Enter. It's best to use "wizard mode" until you become familiar with NTbackup. Click Next.

Choose Restore files and settings and click Next.

You can restore the entire backup or just choose parts of it. I'll just do the System State. Choose your option and click Next.

Check to make sure everything looks right and click Next.

(most home users will never need the Advanced options)

Danger Will Robinson!!!

Just kidding, click OK.

When finished you'll get a screen that looks like this. Click Close.

Hey, your using Windows. You thought you would get through this without a restart?

You may or may not have to restart depending on what you restored.

Congrats, you're done!
