Backing Up Data With Acronis True Image Home 10.0

This article is part of Windows XP Backup Strategies For Home Users

In addition to making disk or partition images Acronis True Image Home can make images of data files. These can include folders, music, pictures, application data, etc.

Making The Image

Open TI and click on Backup

Choose the type of data you want to backup.

Application Data example:

For this example I'll use the folder containing my mp3 files, choose My Data and click Next.

Select the folder and click Next.

You can choose files to exclude, click Next.

Choose the location to backup the data.

If everything looks right, click Proceed and you're finished.

Restoring A Data Image

Restoring data with TI is similar to making the image in the first place.

Open TI and click on Restore, click Next.

Browse to the location of the backup, click on it, then click Next.

You can restore to the original folder or somewhere else. Choose the location of your choice and click Next.

You can restore all or some of the files, in this example we will restore them all, click Next.

Most users will just use the default options, click Next.

This next screen offers some nice options.

Overwrite existing file and Overwrite existing file if it is older do just what they say.

Do not overwrite existing file is useful if you want to restore files that you deleted by mistake. It will simply add the missing files.

Choose your option and click Next.

If everything looks right, click Proceed and you're finished.
