I haven’t seen this problem but a couple of thoughts/suggestions.
Uninstall the Bonjour application if you aren’t in need of it. (see here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonjour_(software) )
Ditto for Check for updates, and syncing.
Make sure ipod etc. is ejected.
That’s about all I can think of.
I should have said I’m using iTunes For Windows and no ipod. I’m on a Vista Ultimate computer so no Bonjour here. Everything is up-to-date. I’ve downloaded iTunes to 3 computers, 1 XP and 2 Vista. All hesitate 15 seconds before iTunes pops up Quit dialog box. I found nothing in Options or Preferences to stop this. Is it Steve whacking us non-Mac users again?

Well … Apple’s forums haven’t bothered with this so maybe here someone will know what’s going on.
Installed latest iTunes + Quicktime pakage.
Still have same problem as before … when I close iTunes it waits 15 seconds before popping up the Quit dialog box. Why? Can this be fixed?
