I checked the Raxco blog today and saw a mention of a new program called PerfectCache which I find to be very interesting.
Rather than regurgitate the blog post I’ll just post the link for you:
PerfectCache — automatic disk caching to improve PC and server performance
Here is a screenie of my quick benchmark (click thumbnail for larger image):

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Have you felt an improvement in actually performance though?
Haven’t had time to really test it or to dig in and find what it is actually doing. I’m hoping for more info from Raxco. I was also hoping folks would give it a shot and post their experiences here.
well to be honest i have it installed and what not. But do not feel any difference at all in performance. =/
For me, seems to slightly improve general performance with moderate improvement for disk intensive operations – just by feel, not benched. Didn’t feel any performance improvement when running without page file – so enabled page file seems to have some effect (makes sense). Haven’t benched disk operation.
Running under Vista x64 with 8Gb DDR3 ram, 2-500 Gb hd’s configured under Intel RST as 320 Gb raid0 128k strips c: drive for system and programs and 310 Gb raid1 d: drive for data with 4 GB fixed page file. Currently running tool as auto-configured with 3.88 GB cache for c: and 1.31 Gb cache for d: with deferred writing for both drives.
Trial is only 14 days! Haven’t asked about pricing yet – would be great if tool was offered < ~$30 for personal use (including future upgrades). Am considering this tool with future ram upgrade vs future ~128 GB SSD (or 2 raid0 ~64 GB SSD's) for system/programs c: drive (yes – would also have to include windows 7 or 8 upgrade for SSD support).
By the way – have monitored your website for years – your windows installing and tweaking guides have been my default "go to" resources since XP. Keep up the great work.
Personally, i don’t see much benefit as Windows is far better with caching now than in the win9x days. If you add Cleanmem(which is free) then that could do a far better job. One thing i don’t like about this app is: it takes a certain amount of ram away for use(the amount you allocate), which, if used on a memory constricted system and depending on the workload, would hurt performance as a whole. Like you said Eric ” Memory Optimizers,
I’ve long railed against these things. The only thing that these programs can do is harm real system performance. My advice, stay away from any “memory optimizer” programs. Don’t believe me? How about taking renowned Windows guru Mark Russinovich’s word for it? In his article entitled The Memory-Optimization Hoax, RAM optimizers make false promises. He lays out the argument better than I ever could. (I can’t reprint the article because of copyright.) His conclusion is that these programs are “fraudware” and he has “yet to see a RAM optimizer that lives up to any of its claims.” Nuff said! “.
Raxco Sales gave me the price for the Workstation version.
The PerfectCache 5.0 Workstation License is $79.95 USD and a year of Maintenance (Upgrade Protection and Technical Support) is $19.99 USD.
Next week (Tuesday?) the website will be updated with a “Buy Now” button on the following page where it currently states to contact Sales:

I have done a benchmark with CrystalDiskMark x64 on my Intel X25-M SATA SSD 80 GB an they are very promising. Read results in MB/s
SEQ: 2121 – 512 K: 2067 – 4 K: 360.6 – 4 K (QD=32): 597.4
In post number 6 I forgot to mention that my system runs under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with 8 GB DDR3 RAM. Intel ICH9R SATA AHCI Cobtroller.
PerfectCache cache size on C:\ : 2.85 GB.
$79.95 USD seems a lot of money Redseujac, I paid less than that for PerfectDisk.
Still I’ve just downloaded the trial and will give it a go on 2 x 150GB WD Velociraptors in RAID 0.
