Weekend Random Stuff…

WOT Spyware
A German news organization discovered that the popular Web Of Trust (WOT) browser extension was spying on users and selling their data.
Both Google and Firefox have delisted WOT.
Info is a little hard to come by as no one properly sources their news anymore. There is a Github page that contains some info.

Windows 7 gained more new users than Windows 10 in the last 2 months

United Kingdom Readers
This is the first I have heard of this. Can some please explain Investigatory Powers Bill without getting too political?

    Hi Eric,
not sure what you meant with information is not properly sources. The WOT Spyware story was sourced properly. the source was NDR to be exact the show Panorama. even the journalists are mentioned.
I have attached the 10 min show.Panorama ..it’s in German, but one can see the detail captured line by line – again in German.

    Cheers Joe

Hi Joe, Sorry I should have been more clear. I was not talking about the article you (and I) mentioned above. Several article in other places mentioned the WOT story without saying where the original story was. I have a habit of at least trying to find it and a quick Google search allowed me to find the NDR article. If I (and I am not a journalist) can do it then so can others. I try to give credit where it is due.
      Thanks, Eric

Thanks for the heads up on WOT. I use this all the time but have just removed it. Are there any alternatives?
