We The People Call for The Resignation of FCC Chairman Ajit Varadaraj Pai
“We the people have identified FCC Chairman Ajit Varadaraj Pai as a threat to our freedoms due to his call to repeal Net Neutrality. We passionately call upon the white house for the immediate removal of FCC Chairman Ajit Varadaraj Pai from office for his actions.”

Not Cute, Just Sad
Article entitled, When your kid tries to say ‘Alexa’ before ‘Mama’. Some parents think it’s cute. These are probably the same parents who let their kids haul around tablets and phones with them all day.

Firefox 57
The all-new Firefox Quantum I mentioned this morning is now available to download.
Those having issues with the new FF and old add-ons can use the Firefox Extended Support Release.
Like it or no? New poll up in the right sidebar.

Fedora 27 Is Out
“The Workstation edition of Fedora 27 features GNOME 3.26. In the new release, both the Display and Network configuration panels have been updated, along with the overall Settings panel appearance improvement. The system search now shows more results at once, including the system actions…GNOME 3.26 also features color emoji support”
I stopped reading right there. If anything invloving a fracking emoji is one of your main features you have failed. It’s like they are taking cues from Apple.

CompuServe Forums Calling It Quits
Yeah, I didn’t know they still existed either.

Microsoft Security Advisory 4053440

November 8, 2017, 15:40(EST) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

microsoft_Knight_shield

Securely opening Microsoft Office documents that contain Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) fields
The title says it all.
There is a vulnerability in MS Office and it is being actively exploited. Though you can edit the registry to block attacks as a temporary fix I don’t recommend it. Why? Because I actually read what Microsoft had to say, “The attacker would have to convince the user to disable Protected Mode and click through one or more additional prompts.” That means you have to download a malicious document, open it, and accept the “Enable editing” prompt. I don’t believe y’all are that stupid. Microsoft will fix this by and by.

Twankers
The Twits at Twitter overstated the number of users for many years. They claim their users number around 330 million. No word on how many of those are fake accounts and bots. Although I’ve run into few accounts there that weren’t too bad, most seem to be filled with self-serving, lying twaddle. Maybe that’s why A third of America wouldn’t care if Twitter disappeared.

A KeyGen? Really?
I didn’t even know these things were still floating around! Anywho…
Some dude at the NSA disabled his AV (Kaspersky), tried to use a fake key generator, got pawned, NSA stuff exposed.
So says Kaspersky anyway. Source: El Reg

Whining About Gmail
Some folks are ticked that Google only kinda stopped scanning email and might go full throttle again.
I get the privacy thing. I really do. But Gmail is a FREE product from an ADVERTISING company. Get over it.
There are lots of free, privacy minded email companies. I use and like ProtonMail.

Dismissing Smart Guys
They dissed Stephen Hawking when he warned that meeting aliens may not be the ET moment we are looking for. Now they are jumping on Elon Musk’s “doomy, gloomy prognosticating“. Basically he warns that Artificial Intelligence isn’t the neatest thing since sliced bread and in fact may be very, very dangerous. Mr. Musk may not be at Dr. Hawking’s level but he sure is hell is way above a reporter’s level. I’m with you Elon.

Getting to know Windows 10

Firefox Finished?
El Reg – Firefox doesn’t need to be No 1 – and that’s OK, ‘cos it’s falling off a cliff
“Just in case you didn’t believe Firefox was on a trajectory that should have it crash and burn into extinction in the next couple of years, former chief technology officer Andreas Gal has usage stats that confirm it. To use Gal’s words: “Firefox market share is falling off a cliff.” The same could be said of Firefox itself.
What’s most interesting about this data and Gal’s interpretation of it is that at the same time that Firefox is sliding into irrelevancy it’s becoming a better browser.
”
Still rockin’ it here.
