Did they do this on purpose or have they been hacked?

I had about the same results as you did. I used the brave browser and I got 21 trackers block, and I had 17 blocked by my ad Guard plug in. I would like to state that I used Local CDN plug in so that might be why I had an low number on my ad blocker. Maybe Local CDN might be something to look into?
Yeah, the count is different every time I visit the page. I call shenanigans.
