I use a variety of search engines depending on what I am looking for and which platform/OS I am using.
This article isn’t meant to influence your search engine preference but to hopefully introduce you to different options.
1 – Google (wikipedia)
Yeah I know; “scroogled”, “don’t be evil”, etc. Fact is it is the worlds best search engine. Perhaps that isn’t saying much but there it is.
Learn to use Google Advanced Search, search operators, and Google Translate.
2 – DuckDuckGo (wikipedia)
“The search engine that doesn’t track you.“. Decent general searches
I like to use the Android app on my phone.
3 – ixquick (wikipedia)
Metasearch engine. “The only search engine that does not record your IP address.”
4 – Startpage
Ixquick that only uses Google as a source. This means Advanced Search as well as Googles search operators work.
I probably should be using this more.
5 – Bing
Not! I have nothing good to say about Bing.
