Random Friday Stuff

www_news

www_newsFor you guys still wanting Windows 7 for that new build, Newegg via TechBargains has Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit Software for $79.99.

How-To-Geek has a neat article up: 15 System Tools You Don’t Have To Install on Windows Anymore

All this hoo-ha over government data mining has everyone taking sides and digging in. Even Woz has weighed in. (Poor guy can’t even sit in an airport without being pestered.) Honestly none of the “revelations” have surprised me though the number of people who are surprised by this has. Like many of you, I figured they were doing this crap all along. Cynical? Jaded? Yes. Yes I am.

I forgot to mention it last week but the guys [H]ardOCP seem to like this Haswell motherboard.

I enjoy watching Windows Weekly ( Leo Laporte, Mary Jo Foley, Paul Thurrott). This weeks episode is a good one.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Converting Vinyl Records To Digital Music – A Non-Audiophiles Guide

May 28, 2013, 14:05(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

vinyl_record

vinyl_recordYears ago I had converted some of my LP’s to digital. Since then my record player (henceforth refereed to as a turntable) had died and my LP’s were stored away. I’ve recently decided to bring that music back to life.

Why?
1 – Because I enjoy both the sound and the experience of playing LP’s.
2 – To bring some of that sound and experience to my digital collection.

Why This Guide?
I’m no audio expert, though I would love to be. In the process of researching both turntables, recording software, and recording techniques I discovered a litany of conflicting and often bad advice. This guide is the solution for digitizing LPs I came up with for myself.
