Apple awarded patent on the Dock

October 9, 2008, 11:46(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

I only post this because I’m a little worried that RocketDock (windows), the various docks for Linux, and others may disappear (or at least have to be modified to reduce functionality). If you use them, my suggestion would be to download and save the latest versions of these programs. Just in case.

Puran Defrag – Fast, Efficient, Low-Cost Defragger

September 28, 2008, 15:25(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

Puran Defrag is a relatively new program. It’s origins only date back to August of 2007. I get lots of requests to review software and after a little research about the product and/or company I usually turn it down unless there is something there that piques my interest. In this case it was the positive comments by Donn Edwards, author of The Great Defrag Shootout.

Iron: Chrome for privacy fanatics

September 26, 2008, 07:48(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

If you want to use Google Chrome but are concerned or have questions about Google’s policies for collecting usage data, you might want to give Iron a try.

I’m not using Chrome simply because FF and IE do what I want them to do, so, why install a 3rd browser? Anywho, if anyone gives Iron a shot, please post your thoughts on it.

Windows x64 Watch List

September 26, 2008, 07:43(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

A Windows developer and Sysadmin has compiled a “Watch List” of the small but annoyingly important things to keep in mind when moving from 32 bit Windows to Windows x64.

Most Geeks already know this info but this would be a good link to keep handy when answering the “32 or 64” questions from non-Geeks.
