New Poll: New iPhone, do you care?

June 10, 2008, 12:40(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

The news in the last week seems to be all iPhone. I don’t have one and I’ve no plans to get one at this time for a variety of reasons. I only know 3 people with the iPhone. One is a rabid Mac fanboy who wouldn’t ever complain about the iPhone or anything else Apple does. One thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread. The other routinely has to stop himself from smashing his iPhone against a wall.
So what do you think about the new iPhone, or do you even care?

Sysinternals Cool Tools: Updates and Sysinternals Live beta

May 28, 2008, 18:28(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

Updates: Process Explorer v11.20, ZoomIt v2.0, Sigcheck v1.53, Handle v3.4 and introducing Sysinternals Live beta.

Sysinternals Live: We’re excited to announce the beta of Sysinternals Live, a service that enables you to execute Sysinternals tools directly from the Web without hunting for and manually downloading them. Simply enter a tool’s Sysinternals Live path into Windows Explorer or a command prompt as \\live.sysinternals.com\tools\ or view the entire Sysinternals Live tools directory in a browser at http://live.sysinternals.com.

Process Explorer v11.20: Process Explorer now shows thread permissions, adds process working set minimum and maximum columns, and fixes a bug that allows it to run from read-only locations on 64-bit Windows.

ZoomIt v2.0: This major ZoomIt update adds the drawing color pink, adds screen blanking to the undo history, extends the maximum pen size from 9 to 19 pixels, has an option to hide the tray icon and makes it easy to save zoomed and annotated screens as bitmap files.

Sigcheck v1.53: The CSV column headers have been fixed to correctly reflect the extended version and hash options.

Handle v3.4: This release fixes a bug that allows it to run from read-only locations on 64-bit Windows and adds an option to show the sizes of pagefile-backed sections.

JkDefragGUI 1.02

May 16, 2008, 09:31(EDT) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

JkDefragGUI is an Graphical User Interface which allows you to easily select all the features JkDefrag, a freeware defragmentation tool made by Jeroen Kessels has to offer. But is can do a lot more. JkDefragGUI can schedule a defragmentation, install JkDefrag or it’s screensaver but can also do some small maintenance to your computer. It can be used to schedule a defragmentation of your systemfiles like pagefile and registry files. JkDefragGUI also supports CCleaner which can be used instead of the internal cleaning function. It can also erase any information which is left behind on your harddisk after erasing files. JkDefragGUI was created for people who don’t have the skills of an advanced user but still want to use the powerful features JkDefrag has to offer or for those people who like a GUI instead of using the command line. JkDefragGUI is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, U3 memory pens and with BartPE pre-installed environment.
