Just a quick How-To. I can’t stand the drop down menu in the Firefox address bar. Here are the 2 keys to change the behavior.
Type: about:config in the address bar and navigate down to:
– To go back to the old style of drop down that only showed where you had already been:
browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped change false to true by double-clicking on it.
– To change the number of items in the drop down: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults change to a number you want. 0=none (This looks like you’ve disabled the drop down but you really haven’t. I haven’t found an easy way to actually disable it.
Double-Bonus time:
I use Google as my home page and I hate the new “suggestions” in the search box. Want to get rid of it? Change your home page / bookmark / search page to this url:

Metallica & AC/DC New Albums…
Some of you may have noticed the banners I made for the side bar. Yep, I’m stoked about these upcoming albums (I pre-ordered both from the bands websites).
I’ve been listening to 2 of the new Metallica songs. I got them from Mission Metallica but you can get them from iTunes too.
You can listen to AC/DC’s “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train” just by heading to AC/DC.com (it’s embedded flash).
Back from vacation.
Sorry for the lack of posting. Just got back from Nashville. For those who care the details are as follows.

Yes, I actually recommended a Mac to someone.
You guys that have been around here for a while know I LOVE poking fun at Mac users. But when it comes to the OS wars, as we say here in the south “I ain’t got no dawg in this fight”. I want everyone to use what is best for them. Believe me, if I could afford a $3000 Mac I would buy it and tri-boot OS X / Vista / openSUSE. I mean the stock Mac (desktop) comes with 8 freakin’ cores! So I thought I would share this with you. [Read more…] about Yes, I actually recommended a Mac to someone.
New System Specs. Final request for input.
I’ve got my system narrowed down (thanks to you guys) and would like to make one last request for input.
I’ve ordered a Q9450 for $300 thanks too Taylor.
***edit – holy cow, this thing has already shipped! Talk about wicked fast service!
Just a quick email to let you know your package has shipped and will be delivered to the address listed below.
I’m trying to jump on this deal for a video card and PSU (having some issues that they are working on).
Here is the rest at Newegg.
Not sure if I’m gonna get a case or not. I don’t really ‘need’ one but I’m open to suggestions. Must be a full tower (or large mid) and no freakin’ door.
Sound card, well since I will not ever buy a Creative product again (due to the latest BS with daniel_k and no Linux support for X-fi), I’ll go with onboard sound unless someone can suggest a better sound card (no Voyetra and must have full Linux and Vista support).
Any comments or suggestions? Am I missing something?
**edit 08APR2008** I’ve ordered the system (see comments) THANK YOU to everyone who commented along the way.
*edit 09APR2008 – I’ve added the Noctua NH-U12P from Xoxide based on the review at [H]ardOCP and from Wesley Fink at Anandtech.
Where are the Q9450 Yorkfield's at?
After looking at all the options I’ve decided to build my own computer again rather than buy one. First, I just can’t bring myself to have a computer I didn’t build. Second, I can do it cheaper. So with a little help from my friends I have most of the specs for it. First up was a Q9450 Yorkfield, and I can’t find it in stock (Newegg has it listed but not in stock). I thought these things were supposed to be out now? Can someone clue me in as to why they are not?
