One step forward: a review of GNOME 2.22

The latest release of the GNOME desktop environment includes a number of significant architectural enhancements and new applications that offer increased power and usability. Released after six months of intensive development, GNOME 2.22 will be included in Ubuntu 8.04 and Fedora 9, which are scheduled for release in April.

IE7Pro is a must have add-on for Internet Explorer, which includes a lot of features and tweaks to make your IE friendlier, more useful, secure and customizable.

Automatix Is No More

The controversial but highly useful app for Ubuntu Linux is going to be put on the shelf:

Well the day has finally come, development of Automatix has been discontinued. We are doing this, not because we think Automatix is no longer necessary on Ubuntu and Debian, but because all of the Automatix developers have become wrapped up in more pressing commitments.

I know many people within the Ubuntu (Canonical) ranks will be happy to see it go. I liked it and used it so I’m sad to see it go.

A former US National Security Agency employee has trousered $10,000 for breaking into a MacBook Air at CanSecWest security conference’s PWN 2 OWN hacking contest. The MacBook was lined up against Linux and Vista PCs – which have so far remained uncracked.

Vista-capable lawsuit paints picture of buggy NVIDIA drivers

This article revels an interesting Microsoft memo. There is a chart with the breakdown of Vista’s crashes. The main problem? Yes, you already know, DRIVERS.
Vista-capable lawsuit paints picture of buggy NVIDIA drivers

NVIDIA drivers were identified as the cause of over 479,000 crashes, or just under 29 percent of all the crashes Microsoft logged. Microsoft’s own drivers follow, at 17.9 percent, and the “Unknown” category takes third place at 17 percent. ATI is in fourth place (9.3 percent) and Intel in fifth place (8.83 percent).

Hit up the Firefox Homepage to download or go to Help > Check for updates in Firefox.
OpenSUSE users, it is available in the repos.
