R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy

February 27, 2015, 12:35(EST) By Eric (a.k.a. TweakHound)

startrekLeonard Nimoy, Spock of ‘Star Trek,’ Dies at 83

We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most… human.

“It might come as something of a surprise, but Windows is more secure than not only Apple’s iOS and OS X, but also Linux. I’ll just let that sink in for a moment…”

About That Samsung 850 Pro SSD Firmware Update
I mentioned a few days ago that there was a firmware update for the Samsung 850 Pro SSD.
The EXM02B6Q firmware is still not available via Samsung Magician. Now I know why. This firmware update is destructive. That means you’ll have to either re-install Windows or restore from a system image.
What I Did:
1 – Backed up my computer via Acronis TI.
(Never, ever update SSD firmware without a system image.)
2 – Downloaded and burned the ISO to CD.
3 – Boot from CD and flash firmware.
4 – Power OFF then power back on. Drive would not boot.
5 – Restore image I made earlier. Success!

re: KB3001652 Update rollup for Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
I cannot get this to install. Windows update just sits there like it is stuck.
A quick Google search shows others are having this problem too.
I suggest skipping this. I will continue to look for more info.
***UPDATE 1525HRS EST***
It appears Microsoft may have pulled this update.
***UPDATE 12FEB2015***
