Some version of this will be part of the upcoming new version of the Win10 Tweak Guide. This article is as much to keep my thoughts straight as it is for your info.

The Things I Do For This Site
Like many others, my main rig STILL had freezing issues after AnniUpdate. Obviously, Microsoft wasn’t going to fix it. I tried every workaround, every fix, everything I could think of. Tinker around, doesn’t work, restore image, update again, try more stuff, restore image, update again, on and on…
I know many of you are waiting for an update to the Win10 Tweak Guide and I figured I put off enough.
So…
This morning I did a full reset and reinstalled everything. *edit* – I should have been clear. This “fixed” my problem.
When it comes to Win10 I don’t “need” to use it. From a personal standpoint I don’t care if I use it. I use it because I support lots of Windows users. I’m perfectly happy with Windows 7 and my Linux Virtual Machines. In truth I can probably do everything I do in Linux. Come Windows 7’s EOL that will most likely be the case (if not sooner).
Anywho, I’ll be working on the tweak guide this week.
Removing Windows 10 Built-In Apps (AnniUpdate Edition)
I’ve started work on updating Tweaking Windows 10. There are a few changes for uninstalling built-in apps.

New Poll Up
I’ve got a new poll up in the right sidebar.
“What is your opinion of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update?”
Please vote.
I stopped using polls because either they don’t support WordPress caching, or caching doesn’t support the widget, or something like that.
Anyhow we will see how it goes. It is more important to me that the site is fast for you than to have the polls.
Win10 AnniUpdate Installed
I’ve successfully installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Upgrade To Win10 And Keep Previous Windows Version
I’m going to show you how I upgraded to Windows 10 and kept my Windows 7 install. I alluded to this method earlier. Although not tested this should work for Windows 8.1 too.
I searched the Windows 10 EULA and I can find nothing that restricts this but I’m not a lawyer either.

Windows 10 Services
Yeah, I know Win10 fires up a lots of services. Lots of folks are in a hurry to disable services. I get it. Back in the Windows XP days this could make a big difference. With todays wicked fast PCs and Win10s fantastic memory management, this is no longer the case.
